Building Comprehension

In this ELA lesson students will be building their comprehension skills by focusing on the sequence and details in each chapter. This lesson would span 5 days in Reading. During this Shared Reading experience each child or partnership may have their own book, along with the podcast of each chapter. The podcasts can also be used for students needing to reread and for ELL students.

Chapter 1 – Spring Podcast                  Chapter 2 – The Story Podcast              Chapter 3 – A Lost Button Podcast

Each podcast and reading is then followed up by a Google Forms Quiz to be completed by each student. The quiz will be used to check their comprehension of the chapter, practice sequencing, identifying story elements and to apply skills learned during our previous character unit.
