Introduction

What is this unit all about?

This is a cross-curricular unit involving Science and ELA. The lessons included in this unit are intended to inform, extend and enhance the current unit implemented in first grade. In Science, students will learn about the life cycle of the frog, and get to experience it first hand. They will also learn the differences between frogs and toads.  In ELA, students will utilize the book Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel to build fluency and comprehension as they read. When working with the jigsaw puzzles, students are working on their problem solving skills, along with the emotional skills of patience, perseverance and the reward of completing the puzzle.
